The patient experience begins with your first call to our practice to schedule an initial visit. Once you come to the clinic, you’ll be greeted by a friendly face and with professional care that stands out from other offices.
NEW PATIENT FORMS

The First Visit

When you come to the office, a staff member will take you to an examination room to meet the doctor once the paperwork is complete. Our initial evaluation includes a review of your health history followed by a thorough assessment: vital signs, systems review, orthopedic, neurologic, and chiropractic tests to diagnose your condition. If necessary, diagnostic imaging or lab tests can be ordered as well.

The doctor will discuss relevant findings during the exam so you understand the basis of your diagnosis. Once your doctor has formulated a clinical impression, they will discuss the available options for your care. Depending upon your exam findings and condition, treatment may be implemented on your first visit so that you can get results immediately!

Financial Matters

The changing landscape of health care has forced Downs Chiropractic to be selective about which insurance plans and third-party payors we do business with. The sad reality is that some insurance carriers have procedures in place designed to limit patient access. Dr. Downs has chosen to avoid plans, which, by design, interfere with the doctor/patient dynamic.

The commercial plans in which we currently participate include the following:

  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield
  • Cigna PPO
  • Cigna Open Access (City of Torrington employees only)
  • ConnectiCare plans (except ConnectiCare Medicare)
  • Healthy CT plans

For out-of-network plans, we discount payments made at the time of service to offer costs similar to those of an in-network provider with the following fee schedule:

  • New Patient Evaluation $95.00
  • Follow-Up Visits $45.00
  • Acupuncture Visits $50.00
  • Dry Needling (1 region) $47.00
  • Dry Needling (multiple regions) $65.00
  • Myofascial Release (30 minutes) $30.00

Dr. Downs is an enrolled provider in government-administrated Medicare plans. Medicare does not pay for an initial New Patient Exam, which applies to participating and non-participating chiropractic providers.

The following fee schedule is payable at the time of service:

  • New Patient Medicare Exam $95.00 (non-reimbursable)
  • All follow-up Medicare visits $42.22

Payment Policies

Payment for services to be rendered is handled upon entry to the office to prevent congestion at the front desk and improve our office’s administrative efficiency. Patients who are unprepared to make payment on the day of service will be asked to reschedule accordingly.

Payment options include cash, personal checks, HSA cards, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. Please speak with a staff member if you have any questions or concerns.
